Meet Our Executive Board Members

LUIS MATTA

Luis a native of Colombia brings his expertise in Mass Media Communications and deep understanding of the international community to the City of Charlotte’s Community Relations Department Before joining the CRC 17 years ago he served as Executive and City Editor for several Spanish-language newspapers, fostering his passion for cultural understanding and community engagement. He holds anMBA and a B.A. in Mass Media Communications and Journalism In his free time, he enjoys studying music and French.Luis is also a proud father of two bilingual and bicultural children.

ISABELLA GARCIA

Isabella is a finance graduate from Wingate University and has spent over a decade in the U.S., where she has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to both professional excellence and community service. She previously served as secretary of ALPFA and co-director of Charlotte's Committee for Patriotic Celebrations, roles through which she fostered cultural pride and civic engagement. Currently, she works at Bank of America, where she has held strategic positions in Treasury, Deposits, and Technology Finance - showcasing her leadership in the financial sector. In her free time, Isabella enjoys exploring personal development, practicing meditation, and studying the ancient wisdom of medicinal plants.

Vice Chair

NATHAN DALTON

Nathan is a graduate of Tulane University with a BSM in finance and a BFA in music composition. He spent 15 years in New Orleans, bartending and opening/managing well-renowned craft cocktail bars with a heavy focus on Latin American cocktails. This was the beginning of his love affair with Latin America, and he travelled often to Mexico and Peru in pursuit of this passion. For the past 8 years, he has been preparing tax returns for individuals and small businesses at FLong Tax Service in Belmont, NC, and has had a love affair with Ethereum for the past half decade, helping start a small handful of small DAOs in the process. He enjoys playing piano and writing songs, often about crypto.

PEDRO CORDIDO

Driven by a self-taught mastery of emerging technologies, he brings expertise in Corporate PR, Strategic Planning, Marketing, and Media Guidance. With a BA in Spanish Language and Literature and an MBA in International Trade, he co-founded agalma.us focusing on Digital Marketing, NFTs, Blockchain, and Smart Contracts. His background includes roles in media strategy, strategic planning at ABCESAR GROUP, and marketing for Compañía Inversora Latinoamericana S.A. and PDVSA.

ROBERT SPIES

Robert Spies is a Software Engineering Manager at Google, based in Mountain View, CA. He resides in San Francisco and holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Washington. With over 15 years of experience in the tech industry, he has worked both as a Software Engineer and in engineering leadership roles. Passionate about information technology, open source, and building innovative products, he strives to create solutions that enhance users' lives and deliver exceptional experiences.

A psychology professional with over 15 years of experience, has led impactful projects in Colombia’s public and private sectors, focusing on ecosystem protection, project management, and community engagement. With a Master's degree studies in Rural Development, she co-founded Agalma Us LLC, a Charlotte-based marketing agency. She has spent 7 years in the U.S. Leading tech projects in digital marketing, including NFT and Blockchain.

WILLIAM SUAREZ

Colombian entrepreneur with 17 years in the U.S., William is a leader in digital transformation, specializing in streamlining operations and expanding markets for Latin companies. Founder of Simplicity Agency, he focuses on Latin business growth and serves as a business coach, enhancing managerial skills and strategies for Latino entrepreneurs. His vision integrates technology and innovation to drive social impact within the Latino business community in the U.S.
